Accidental Bliss & The Coffee Class
The unassuming coffee shop southwest of the Strip just may be the only reason to visit Vegas

“…Every detail, from the food on your plate to the atmosphere we create, is designed to elevate your experience. At The Coffee Class, we’re not just serving coffee and food; we’re crafting moments that matter, where every visit feels personal and inspired….” — Story - The Coffee Class
It was our first full day in Vegas. We made reservations at Buddy V.’s Ristorante in the Venetian on the Strip for Sunday Brunch. But before Nonna’s Meatballs and Roasted Mushroom & Truffle Pizza, my husband Ed and I needed to pick up some coconut sugar, distilled, and bottled water (for our vitamins) from a nearby Vons.
At this point, he suggested we stop at a coffee joint to wake up. Nothing big, maybe a latte.
Hah!
I remembered Instagram showing me The Coffee Class. I looked it up and in 15 minutes, we walked through the front doors to a hearty chorus of “Welcome!” from the friendly staff manning the counter and dispensing cups and plates of their finest.
My eyes went directly to the display case full of homemade pop tarts (chocolate mint and vegan blackberry lavender). Suddenly, the AYCE buffet went out the window. I wanted this pop tart more than anything, and the limited maple taro latte — my appetite be damned.
I can’t even describe the food right here. It’s everything you imagine the description would taste like, and more.
I would drink the maple taro latte every morning with this blackberry lavender-forward pop tart, sitting in the corner watching other coffee lovers stroll in and out, maybe with the latest Stephen King book.
It’s naturally sweet, with a transformative hit of zingy nutmeg — a tricky move even among the best bakers — that permeates the warm, toffee maple and nutty-vanilla taro.
Of course, we changed our plans that day and six days later for a taste of Coffee Class’s own brunch: The GOAT Breakfast Sandwich (baguette griddled with soft scrambled eggs, whipped goat cheese, baby arugula, prosciutto, bacon aioli) and Poblano Pico Egg Bowl (scrambled eggs, chicken breast, avocado, bacon, house poblano crema).
When I bit into my GOAT sandwich, I almost swooned. The baguette maintained its crispy crunch, yet also sunk in soft as a cloud. How?! The crispy, soft texture married nicely with the soft, salty, tangy flavors inside. Either a baguette is too crispy, cutting your gums, or too bland, almost like white bread. Whoever’s in the kitchen concocting this ever-changing menu is a frickin’ genius.
I tasted my husband’s Poblano Pico Egg Bowl, nodding with delight. I knew it would be love at first sight, because the dish contained every ingredient he looks for whenever he goes for a burrito or street taco, especially the pico de gallo and avocado. Tart and creamy, just the way everyone likes it.
The Coffee Class has another location, on 709 E. Horizon Dr., in nearby Henderson. There’s also a dairy-/gluten-free, vegan place called Almond & Oat, 10445 Spencer St., also in Henderson. All created and inspired by founder Kyle Cunningham.
The sister locations are one of only a few reasons to visit Vegas. Who cares about the Strip or the Fremont Experience when you can get a hand-crafted drink, dessert, and brunch thoughtfully, inventively, lovingly put together?
The Coffee Class is all about moments. We enjoyed ours so much we’re thinking of a repeat performance in a near-future, off-Strip Vegas trip.
